Roman Martial Arts offers classes for all age groups and skill levels.
Tiny Tigers – Age 3 – 5
The Tiny Tigers, ages 3-5, learn how to control their bodies, direct and focus their minds, and energize and empower their spirits through exciting martial arts activities, games, and challenges.
Little Dragons – Age 5 – 7
This program is designed for martial artists ages 5, 6, and 7. In the Little Dragon classes, students learn the first lessons of martial arts: Confidence, Control, and Concentration, which will help prepare children for other “firsts” in life.
Taekwondo – Age 8 and up
Since its origin in Korea, Taekwondo has become one of the fastest growing martial arts in the world and is now a permanent part of the Olympic Games.
Taekwondo is an excellent martial art for developing a winning attitude and building self confidence. The beautiful forms, which are easily mastered in the beginning, progressively become harder, allowing the student to learn concentration and discipline. Taekwondo has been shown to help children with ADD learn to better control their behavior and improve school grades.
Self-defense is stressed at Roman Martial Arts. Taekwondo students practice self-defense techniques that are designed to protect them in real-life situations. Students learn not only how to defend themselves; but also, how to avoid confrontations without having to fight.
Taekwondo is also an athletic activity that is especially appealing to students who do not enjoy “team” sports such as football or soccer. Taekwondo allows the students to get the exercise they need and still progress at their own pace. Through training, students can increase their flexibility, increase their stamina, and develop strength; all attributes that are beneficial in any athletic activity they enjoy.
Hapkido – Age 13 and up
Hapkido is a powerful and innovative Korean martial art. Literally translated, the word Hap means coordination, Ki denotes the essence of power, and Do means the way; therefore, Hapkido is translated as the Way of Coordinated Power.
Hapkido is a complete martial art that incorporates powerful and precise kicking techniques; fluid and highly effective joint-locking techniques; decisive and sharp hand techniques; as well as practical and effective offensive and defensive weapons techniques. This concise and practical martial art is the result of many years of evolution and revision in pursuits of the Way.
